Doris M. Atherholt, 89, a resident of the Laurels Senior Living Community in Hazleton, and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Hazleton General Hospital. Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 16, 1920, a daughter of the late Louis and Sue (Hughes) Linker, Doris lived on South Sherman Street in Wilkes-Barre before relocating to Hazleton in 2006. She was a graduate of GAR Memorial High School and a lifetime member of the former First Primitive Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre. Everyone who knew her will always remember her as a warm, loving person, dedicated to her home and family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Atherholt, who died in 1977. Surviving are a daughter, Marlene Smith and her husband, Raymond, of Hazleton; son, Robert Atherholt and his wife, Melissa, of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Lindsay Redwinski and her husband, Edward, of West Chester, Benjamin Atherholt of New Orleans, and Amy Atherholt of Houston; as well as a brother L. Donald Linker and his wife, Jean, of Shavertown; and three special nieces who helped with her care, Cinde, Cathy and Corol Linker. Funeral ser vices will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Butler Chapel of Krapf & Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 530 W. Butler Dr., Drums, where Reverends Jeffrey L. Funk and Marion Meiss, of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Hazleton, will preside. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township.
