May Atchison Wenner was born in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, May 26, 1870. She died at her home in Kansas City Tuesday evening, June 2, 1931.
She moved to Kansas with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James D. Atchison, deceased in 1879 and resided near Kirwin until about 15 years ago when she moved to Kansas City. She taught school in and near Kirwin and Phillipsburg for many years.
On October 1, 1925, she was united in marriage to Mr. Charles Wenner. She was a member of the Linwood Presbyterian church where she and her husband were active workers.
Her death followed an illness of four months. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, three step-daughters, three brothers and three sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held in Kansas City conducted by her pastor. Dr. Rogers.
Her last request was to be brought home and laid beside her mother. The husband who has been very ill was unable to attend the services, and the body was accompanied here by her sisters, Mrs. Jennie Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Duff.
The burial service was beautifully conducted by Rev. G. C. Milner.
Some Downs friends of Mrs. Wenner brought beautiful flowers to the train Friday morning in token of their high esteem. Mrs. Wenner once lived at Downs.

Her death certificate shows she died in Kansas City, Missouri, from cancer. Her husband Charles L. Wenner, died June 8, 1931, from nephritis and is buried in Guthrie, Oklahoma, according to the Missouri death certificate.
