Mildred Pauline Phillips, 88, of Independence, died Friday, March 22, 1996, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, at Speaks Suburban Chapel; burial in Mount Washington Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Monday, at the chapel.
Mrs. Phillips was born March 14, 1908, in Danview, IL, and had lived most of her life in Kansas City and Independence. She was a homemaker and a member of the Rockwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Albert Phillips, on August 6, 1995; and a son, Don Phillips, on May 9, 1993, Surviving are four sons, James A. Phillips, Jr., Independence, Robert Lee Phillips and Larry Dave Phillips, both of Climax Springs, MO. and Terry Wayne Phillips, Waverly; four daughters, Mildred Alice Brecht, Lee's Summit, Barbara Jean McNurlin, Judy Diane Shockey and Gail Lynn Franklin, all of Independence; 41 grandchildren; 88 greaqt-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Pauline was the last of 10 children born to Carrie and Mel Aston.
