31, formerly of Potsdam. Anthony C. Ashley, 31, Monroe, North Carolina and formerly of Potsdam, died Wednesday evening, January 9, at Carolina's Medical Center-Union in Monroe, North Carolina. FrAmong his survivors are his mother and step-father, Joan and Chad Gokey of Potsdam; his father, Craig Ashley of Spring Hill, Tennessee; his sons, Cameron and Robert; his daughter, Makayla; his brother, Jason Ashley of Potsdam; his grandparents, Paul and Catherine Compeau of Brasher Falls; his step-grandparents, Vern and Alice Gokey of North Lawrence; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Hilton and Beatrice Ashley.

Tony was born on September 24, 1976, in Massena, the son of Craig and Joan Compeau Ashley. He attended school at St. Lawrence Central and then Potsdam Central School and worked in the area for several years. He moved to North Carolina and started working for City Wide Moving Systems, delivering new furniture. He enjoyed his job and the people he worked with.

He loved his children and took great pride in them. He looked forward to family gatherings. He enjoyed the outdoors, whether fishing with his children or Grandpa, 4-wheeling, skiing or searching for treasures at a flea market. His family offers appreciation to everyone who assisted in Tony's care throughout this past year since his traumatic injury.
Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Monday 1 to 3 p.m. Tony's funeral service will be at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Patrick Ratigan, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church in Brasher Falls, officiating.
