Born Dec. 24. 1870 in the Town of Louisville, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Sharlow. She was educated in Louisville and in July 1885 she and Charles Ashley were married.
About 54 years ago they settled on the Ames farm just west of Massena Springs and had since resided there. Mr. Ashley died in November 1939.
Surviving are nine sons, Fred, Louisville, James. William. Roy. Bernard, Lester and Clarence, all of Massena. Leo of Waddington and Albert, a patient in the VA Hospital in Buffalo and seven daughters, Mrs. Frank (Sadie) Silmser, Mrs. Edward (Nellie) Lauber, Mrs. Ralph (Rose) Perkins. Mrs. Francis (Lena) Perkins, and Mrs. Joseph (Svlvia) Premo, all of Massena, Mrs. Mabel Prescott of Syracuse and Mrs. Howard (Thelma) LaComb of Massena Center. Also surviving are a brother, Leonard Sharlow. Massena; a sister, Mrs. Bert Kirkey, Albany, and a large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Phillips Memorial Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 Saturday morning in Sacred Heart Church. The body will be placed in Calvary Cemetery vault to await Spring burial there.
