Boyd Douglas Ashley, Jr., 52, of Madison Heights, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2015, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Boyd was born in Fort Benning, Ga., on May 5, 1963, to Kay Lawhorne Ashley of Lowesville and the late Boyd Douglas Ashley, Sr., He was a brick mason, a member of Kingswood Baptist Church in Arrington and a U. S. Army veteran. In addition to his mother, he is survived by five children, Daniel Lee Ashley (Katherine) of Madison Heights, John Ashley (Kelly) of Timberlake, Aaron Ashley of Warrenton, N.C., Joshua Campbell (Deborah) of Piney River and Teri Ashley of Warrenton, N.C.; one brother, William Henry Ashley of Monroe; two sisters, Sharon Ashley and Eileen Ashley, both of Lowesville; six grandchildren, Lily, Rose and Violet Ashley and Dixie, Willow and Lillith Campbell; and a host of nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by his sister, Artie Taylor and two nieces: Megan Taylor and Jean Bond.The family wishes to express appreciation to two very faithful friends: Mike Beard and Jay Young.Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at Driskill Funeral Chapel, Amherst with Pastor Carroll Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Jonesboro Cemetery with military honors.
