Mrs. Elizabeth Howell Ashley (1884-1957) of 145 Cordova St., St. Augustine, passed away in a St. Augustine hospital Tuesday evening. She was 72 years of age, and was born in Sparkhill, N.Y. She was a member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, St. Augustine. She was the wife of Rev. Morgan Ashley and until recently resided in Crescent City. Rev. Ashley who was rector of Trinity Church in 1942-43, and from 1945-51, is now serving as assistant rector of the church.
Funeral services will be held Friday in St. Augustine and interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. The family gratefully declines flowers.
Besides the husband, survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas E. Kraan, Tokyo, Japan; one sister, Mrs. Clement Rodgers Randle, of Washington, D.C.
Three grandsons also survive, Morgan M. Kraan, Ashley M. Kraan, of Red Bank and Morgan J. Knox, of Tokyo, Japan. (Palatka Daily News, Obituary dtd Thursday, 2 May 1957.)
