LAWRENCE ASHCRAFT, EX-DRY RIDGE MAYOR, DIES
DRY RIDGE -- Lawrence Gorton Ashcraft, the first mayor of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at St. Luke West Hospital in Florence after a long illness. He was 84.
Mr. Ashcraft, of Broadway Street, was a retired farmer, businessman and member of the board of directors at Dry Ridge Citizen Bank. He also was a
Kentucky Colonel, deacon at Dry Ridge Baptist Church and member of Dry Ridge Masonic Lodge No. 849. He was also an active sportsman.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Stephenson Ashcraft.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dry Ridge Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home and at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Contributions are suggested to Dry Ridge Baptist Church Building Fund.
