Wilbur Ray "Wib" Ascham, while an inpatient at Flower Hospital (Sylvania), entered his heavenly home on October 23, 2005. He is the beloved wonderful husband of Ann M. Ascham who survives him.

Wilbur Ascham was born and grew up at Maplehurst Farms in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio (Findlay, Ohio area). Wilbur lived life with a deep and abiding faith in God. He was loving, kind, caring, considerate, thoughtful, helpful to others and generous. Mr. Ascham earned his degree, with honors, from The Ohio State University, where he continued extensively with graduate studies. Eventually he served on the Advisory Board of the O.S.U. Food Science Department and became a member of the O.S.U. President's Club. In 1966, Wilbur Ascham founded Consumer Guild Foods, Inc., Toledo - a food manufacturing firm producing in excess of 110 formulations. In addition to providing company registered label names, the firm manufactures for and does private labeling of products for distributors, supermarket chains, restaurant chains, universities, prison systems and other organizations throughout the country. With his wide knowledge and extensive experience in the food science and the food manufacturing fields as a chemist, engineer and consultant in food related fields, Mr. Ascham's consultation inquiries stemmed from firms in many areas of the U.S. Prior to founding his food manufacturing operation, Wilbur's employment included research at The Battelle Memorial Institute (Columbus), head of various operations at the Kroger manufacturing division (Cincinnati) and plant manager and corporate head of engineering for five manufacturing plants of Holsum Foods (Milwaukee and four other locations in the country). Wilbur was a member of and officer in several church, service, professional (including Institute of Food Technologists) and philanthropic organizations. He was a member of the Sylvania Pyramid Masonic Lodge #287, the Scottish Rite, the Zenobia Shrine, having served as president of the Zenobia Chanters (men's choral group of the Shrine), Order of the Eastern Star and Royal Order of Jesters. He engaged in various activities raising funds for Shriners Hospitals for Children. Wilbur grew up attending St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Findlay, Ohio. In his active church involvements, he served in various positions including president of United Methodist Men and counselor of the Methodist Youth Fellowship.

Wilbur was preceded in his transition by parents, Jessie and Ray Ascham; sisters, Martha Wanner, Julia Ascham and Eleanor Pulse and brothers-in-law, Paul F. Pulse II and Philip Blickensderfer. In addition to wife, Ann, surviving family include sister, Katherine Blickensderfer and brothers-in-law, Joseph Wanner and Robert J. Petrick. Other surviving family include nieces, Ann Blickensderfer, Judi (Max) Weaver, Elizabeth (Patrick) Dominik and Debbie (Stephen) Moore and nephews, Paul F. (Carol) Pulse III, James Wanner, David Wanner, Roger Blickensderfer, John Blickens-derfer, and Robert Alan Petrick.

Visitation will be held Friday, November 4, 2005, from 4-9 p.m. at the Boyer Van Wormer Scott Funeral Home, 5055 Secor Rd. (North of Laskey) where Pyramid Lodge Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m.

A memorial service in celebration of Wilbur's life will be held at the St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 120 W. Sandusky St., Findlay, Ohio (just west of downtown Main St.) at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 5, 2005.

Heartfelt gratitude is extended "on wings of love" to family and friends for their remembrances, kindnesses, cards and notes, good wishes and prayers. In lieu of flowers memorial tributes may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children; c/o Zenobia Shrine, 1511 Madison Ave., Toledo, Ohio 43624. Entombment at Toledo Memorial Park, Chapel of Peace, will be private.
