Dan went to be with his Lord on December 8, 2010, as a result of complications of pneumonia.

Dan was born January 27, 1933, outside Winnsboro, TX, the fourth of six sons, to Everitt and Eupha Nichols Asbill.

He grew up in Dallas and graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1950.

On October 28, 1950, he married Velma Ruth Brown and they raised four children who graduated from Mesquite High School.

Dan was with the Dallas Police Department from 1954 until his retirement as a sergeant in 1983. He then owned and operated Mesquite Pawn Shop for twenty years.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Morris, Everitt, Jim and Jerry.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Ruth Asbill of Edgewood; sons, Dan, Jr and Clay Asbill, both of Winnsboro; daughters, Patti Asbill and Donna Asbill, both of Edgewood; grandchildren, Amy McEnturff, Ashley Asbill, Jake Asbill, Josh Asbill, Buck Asbill, Calley Asbill, Colt Turner, Jessy Petticrew and Cassidy Petticrew; great-grandson, Austin Hansen; brother, Roy Asbill; and many nieces, nephews and other family members.
