Kenneth R. Arthurs Sr., 85, Altoona, died unexpectedly Sunday at Altoona Regional Health System, Altoona Hospital Campus.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late James and Minerva Arthurs. He married Eydie Clapper. She died in September 2005.
Surviving are a daughter, Delores "Buttercup" Donelson and husband, Tom, of Blairsville; two sons: Kenneth R. Jr. and companion, Patty, and James Paul and wife, Jill, all of Altoona; companion, Mary Iuzzolino of Altoona; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Hazel Quarello of Hollidaysburg and Thelma Beason of Altoona. He was preceded in death by a son, Roy Frank, in September 1969; three sisters: Helen, Hannah and Marie; and a brother, Donald.
Mr. Arthurs was of the Protestant faith. He was a self-employed contractor. Mr. Arthurs was an Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Arthurs was a member of the Cesare Battisti Club, Catholic War Veterans and Newburg Fire Hall.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesday at The Good Funeral Home Inc., at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Alto-Reste Park.
