He married Barbara Myers on April 16, 2007 in Abilene.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; mother, Marie Arp; nine children: Tammy Held of Clyde, William and Kayte Arp of Abilene, Gerald and Cheryl Arp of Abilene, Sammy Arp of Abilene, Laura Moore of San Antonio, Misty and Bill Miley of Abilene, Mickey and Darla Arp of Abilene and Danielle and Billy Murphy of Hawley; two sisters: Annette Perdue of Tye and Cecil Kay and Don Mask of Rockwall; three stepsons: Robert Holder, Allan Holder, and Russell Holder, all of Abilene; nineteen grandchildren; six step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends and extended family.
