Luther L. Arnold, 73, route 2, Decatur, a lifelong resident of Kirkland Township, died at 8 p.m. Monday at the Ossian Health Care Center, where he had been a patient two and one-half months.
A retired farmer, the well-known Adams County resident was a former employee of C.W. Fuelling, Inc., and a onetime salesman for Bill Zoss Chevrolet-Buick for some eight years.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Sons of the American Revolution.
Born on July 10, 1909, he was the son of Charles C. and Susannah Johnson-Arnold, and was married Aug. 9, 1930, to Wava Scherry; they were married 52 years.
Survivors include the wife; three children, Mrs. Ramon (Vivian) Avila, Muncie; Doyle Arnold, West Jefferson, O.; Brooks Arnold, route 2, Decatur; two sisters, Mrs. Naomi Bieberich, route 4, Decatur; Mrs. Margaret Stucky, Berne; two brothers, Frank Arnold, New Haven; John Arnold, route 2, Decatur; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Four brothers, including Noah and Floyd, preceded him in death.
Services will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Zwick, Boltz & Jahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Philip Hillsamer officiating. Burial will be in the Decatur Cemetery .
Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials are to the First United Methodist Church .
