Virginia A. "Ginny" Weikert, of Orrtanna and formerly of Gettysburg, died September 23, 2009, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by family and friends.

She was born October 11, 1922, in Emmitsburg, the daughter of the late James and Pearl Topper Arnold.

Mrs. Weikert was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Gettysburg. She was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, a member of the Albert J. Lentz Post 202 American Legion, Gettysburg, and the Emmitsburg VFW.

Ginny worked most of her life in retail sales and loved working with the public, talking with everyone she met. She had a passion for playing bingo and enjoyed exercising her arm on the slot machines.

Mrs. Weikert is survived by five children: Thomas Weikert and wife, Karen of Camp Hill, their daughter, Megan Johnston and husband, Matt, and their children, Mackenzie and Ethan, Katie and Tim Faley and their children, Cameron and Riley; James G. Weikert and wife, Dianne of Gettysburg, and their children, Jamie, Mitch, Cliff and wife, Stephanie, and their son, Tristan; Mary V. Kessel of Orrtanna; Sharon Purdy and husband, Mark of Gettysburg, and their children, Jill, Amie, and Clare; and Patty Schrider and husband, Dave of Biglerville, and their children, Sara and Adam; a sister, Mary Pitzer and husband, Charles of Shiremanstown; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Kathleen Ann Weikert; and two brothers, Francis "Hottie" Arnold, David Arnold.
