CANFIELD - Frances Mary Arnold, 90, of McCarty Drive, passed away peacefully at Hospice House, Friday, July 1, 2011, with her family by her side.
Frances was born December 17, 1920 in Montrose, Michigan, a daughter of the late John Paul and Irene Johnson Bronson, and came to Canfield in 1966.
She was a homemaker who dedicated her adult life to raising and caring for her family. Mrs. Arnold enjoyed sewing and knitting, and was a long time member of Canfield United Methodist Church.
Frances was a force of nature. She was strong, independent and outspoken. She was protective of her younger siblings, especially Jack, in her younger years. She was equally protective of her husband, children and grandchildren in her adult life, and God help those who crossed her. Frances raised her children to be self-sufficient and productive, and took pride in all of their accomplishments. She was loved and will be truly missed by all.
Mrs. Arnold leaves her sons, David (Simone) Arnold of Canfield, Michael (Mihaela) Arnold of Boardman, and Randie (Patricia) Arnold of Nashville, Tenn.; her daughter, Sandra Arnold of Austintown; a daughter-in-law, Sally Arnold of Montrose; her grandsons, Robert Arnold of Montrose, Christopher (Andrea) Arnold of Austintown, and Mark Arnold (Joyce Goren) of Columbus; her granddaughters, Katheryn Arnold (Sean Carter) and Sophie Arnold of Columbus, Kelly, Erin and Mary Shannon Arnold of Nashville, and Melanie Arnold of Austintown; and her great-grandsons, Sebastian, Quintin and Aiden.
Her first husband, Donald Andres, died serving his country during World War II. Her husband, Edwin E. Arnold, Jr., whom she married in 1946 in Montrose, Michigan, died in 1987. Two sons, Richard Arnold and Robert Andres, a daughter, Sue Ann, a great-grandson, Nathaniel, two brothers, Jack and Gerald Bronson, and a sister, Betty Jane Sobey, also preceded her in death.
Interment will follow at Canfield Village Cemetery.
