WEST LIBERTY – Delbert William Arnold, 59, of Atalissa, died at 2:10 a.m. today at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, after an illness of four days.
He was the son of William and Margaret Slosser Arnold, born June 8 1906, at Atalissa.
Mr. Arnold had been an oil jobber, and for the past five years had been doing some farming. He attended the Atalissa Presbyterian church.
He married Edith A Bjork, June 19, 1929, at Monmouth, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Ralph of Atalissa, and Gordon who is stationed in Michigan with the Air Force: one daughter, Mrs. Karen Puffeit of Dundee, Ia.: two brothers, George of Evansville, Wisc., and Virgil of Muscatine; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Essex of Atalissa, and Mrs. Gretchen Smith of solon; and his mother, Mrs. Margaret Arnold of West Liberty. There are two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, and one son in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Snider funeral home, West Liberty, with Rev. Robert Reynolds of the Presbyterian church officiating. Interment will be at Oakridge cemetery.
