Curtis Reginald Arnold was born 8 Nov 1920 in Madill, OK and died of double pneumonia 6 Dec 1997 in Lancaster, CA. He was buried with full military honors at the Riverside, Calif. National Cemetery. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the South Pacific where he received the Purple Heart. He was unloading an LST on the island of Vella LaVella when it was attaacked and sunk by Japanese dive-bombers. He was later in several other battles in the South Pacific including Guadalcanal and New Georgia. He married Betty Louise Getman, the daughter of Lloyd and Margaret Day Getman, 21 Jun 1947, in Los Angeles, CA. Betty was born 28 Sept 1928 in Los Angeles. Curtis was a retired design engineer for Rockwell International later to become Boeing Corporation. They had 4 children; Linda Carol, Vicki Lynn, Kathy Jean and David Curtis. Curtis and Betty lived in El Monte, Baldwin Park, Fullerton, Palmdale and then had a house built on 6 acres of land in Leona Valley, CA (1962) where Curtis would live until his death in 1997. Curtis's Mother was Inez Florence Olvey; his Father was James Omery Arnold.
