Donald Lee Arnhart, 72, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, after a long bout with Parkinson's disease. He was lovingly taken care of by the staff at Wynwood Manor this past year and recently by Ashley Manor in Jerome.
He was born Jan. 27, 1940, to Glen and Agnes Arnhart. He grew up on the family farm at Eden and attended Valley Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eden and later was a member of Immanuel in Twin Falls.
His college career began at the University of Idaho, where he studied mechanical engineering. Later he transferred to Idaho State University Trade and Technology School, where he studied automotive repair. He worked in car dealerships in Pocatello, Burley and Twin Falls and finally opened his own business in Jerome. During this time, he also served eight years in the Army Reserve. He married Evelyn Kaserman in 1963, and together they had a son, Jason. Don and Jason were lifelong "buddies" and shared all the same interests — car restorations, fast boats, 18-wheelers and pugs.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and his son.
A special thanks to his neighbors who checked on him while he was at home and to his best friends, John and Juan. They continued to spend time with him when he was no longer able to go out.
Per his request, there will be no service. He will be inurned next to his son at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24. Arrangements are under the direction of Dustin Godfrey and the staff at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park."
