LORAIN – Helen E. Arndt (nee Drahos), 101, of Lorain, died Thursday August 29, 2013 at New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain.
She was born May 12, 1912 in Westville, Illinois and had resided in Lorain most of her life.
Helen graduated from Lorain High School in 1930. She retired from General Industries in Elyria where she worked as an assembler.
Helen was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Elyria, AARP #399 and the Independent Order of Foresters.
She is survived by her stepchildren Gerald (Gail) Arndt of Ramona, CA and Beverlee (James) Strohsack of Lorain, step grandchildren Michele (Mike) Coleman, Andrew (Anya) Arndt, Brian (Nicole) Strohsack and Greg Strohsack and 6 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clayton A. Arndt in 2008, parents Simon and Mary Drahos and sisters Millie Pettit and Mary Toth.
The family will receive friends Saturday 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave, Lorain. The Rev. Bret Myers, pastor of St. Paul UCC in Elyria, will officiate. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery in Elyria.
