Mrs. Georgia Armstrong, 82, highly respected and loved resident of the Evergreen community, where she had lived her entire life, died Feb. 9, 1946 at the Community Hospital following a short illness. Funeral services were held Feb. 11 at New Chapel, with burial in the New Chapel Cemetery. Nabors Brothers was in charge. She had been a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church for a number of years, and had been very active in her church life, being the oldest member of the church for the past several years. She numbered her friends by her acquaintances. She was the widow of the late William F. Armstrong, prominent Evergreen farmer who died in 1910.

Survivors included six sons and three daughter. They are: Edgar Armstrong of Marysville, Calif., Madison Armstrong of Nettleton, Allen Armstrong of Tupelo, Tracy and Welmer (Delmar) Armstrong, both of Evergreen, Ralph Armstrong of Tupelo, Mrs. Mary Nabors of Evergreen, Mrs. Annie Armstrong of Smithville and Mrs. Tom Austin of Evergreen; 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
