Leechburg, Pa., January 31- Robert A. Armstrong is dead at his residence in Allegheny township, Westmoreland county, after an illness of 10 weeks. He was born near where he died August 31, 1829. He was educated in the public schools, the Freeport academy and Allegheny College. For several years after his graduation he taught school. He was married to Miss Amanda J. Rowan and they removed to Iowa, where his wife died some years later leaving three children, namely, Elizabeth J., wife of the Rev. J.R. Wylie, of New Galilee, Pa.; John M. and James C. of Pittsburg. Returning to Westmoreland township Mr. Armstrong settled on a farm and was married to Margaret J. Pinkerton. [to whom he had five more children, Mary A., Alexander, Robert M., David M., and Amanda E.] Mr. Armstrong for many years was an elder in the Reformed Presbyterian Church and at the time of his death was serving as an elder in the United Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his widow, the following brothers and sisters: D.D. of New Kensington; Dr. J.A. of Leechburg; S.S. of New Kensington; Mrs. Mary J. Free, Mrs. Margaret Sproull and these children: Mrs. D.K. Swank, Alexander M., Robert M., Mrs. William J. McKee, of Pittsburg and Pearl A. Armstrong, of Leechburg.
