She was born October 13, 1920 in Alexandria, IN, the daughter of Floyd and Cleo (McMahan) Byrum. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1938, and attended Indiana Business College.
Evelyn was employed by Prudential Insurance Company for 25 years, and was office manager for the Salvation Army for 18 years.
She was a member of the Salvation Army since 1933; a 50-year member and Past Worth Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Muncie Chapter #104; a member and Past Worthy High Priestess of Esther Shrine #14 Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem; and a member and Past Royal Matron of Munseetown Court #29 Order of Amaranth, of which she was Past Grand Royal Matron, for the State of Indiana. She was also a member of AARP, RSVP, Minnetrista Associates, High Street United Methodist Church Thursday Luncheon and Very Happy Willing Workers Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Eileen Cameron.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Parson Mortuary, 801 W. Adams Street, Muncie, beginning with servics by the Order of Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem and Order of the Amaranth, followed by funeral services with Major Norman Marshall officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
