John E. Armistead Succumbs At Age 60
Mathews, July 25 - John Elmer Armistead, 60, of Susan died Sunday night in the U.S. Marine Hospital at Norfolk.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sadie Ripley Armistead; son, Maurice Armistead of Susan; daughter, Mrs. Doris Rowe of Clay Bank; three brothers, Glenn Armistead of Shadow, Homer and George E. Armistead, both of Portsmouth, and one granddaughter, Virginia Mae Rowe.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Funeral Home, Blakes. Burial will be made in Friendship Cemetery.
