Funeral services for John Arends, 42, were held Tuesday morning at the Catholic Church in Petersburg, Nebraska.
Mr. Arends, who has been ill for more than a year died Sunday morning at Dr. Reils' Cottage hospital in Palmer where he had been brought Saturday for treatment.
John Arends was a son of Conrad Arends who formerly lived near Archer and now resides at Petersburg. He is a brother of Conrad Arends, Jr., who moved last fall from the Keller farm in Loup Valley to Spalding. He and his family came from California within the past year. He leaves his wife, one daughter and two sons.
