Lavern 'Bernie' Ard, 82, a life- long produce farmer, native and resident of Robertsdale, died Jan. 4, 1999, at Mercy Medical in Daphne. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nettie Sundie, his father and stepmother, Sam and Arrellia Ard; two sisters, Chloe Steadham of Robertsdale and Elsie Kuck of Albany, Ga.; a brother, Duane Ard of Robertsdale. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Givens and Susie Richardson of Robertsdale; four brothers, Merriel Ard of Robertsdale, Gloyice Ard of Orange Beach Alonzo Ard and W. D. Ard, both of Silverhill; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Graveside services were held Jan. 7 at the Rock Cemetery in Robertsdale with the Rev. John Sterling officiating. Arrangements were made by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory in Robertsdale.
