Obituary

Funeral services will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Crestwood Chapel for Eula Belle Dooley Archer, 90, Gadsden, who died Friday, April 20, 2007. The Rev. Anthony Copeland and Dr. Wayne Crumpton will officiate. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Crestwood Funeral Home is directing.

Mrs. Archer was born in Talladega County in 1916 but lived most of her life in Etowah County. Her church membership was at Twelfth Street Baptist Church, where she made a profession of faith at an early age. She most recently attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Hokes Bluff. Mrs. Archer was preceded in death by her husband, Charley Barrett Archer; parents, J.O. and Eula Lee Dooley; brothers, Joe, J.W. (Jake), Charley, and Oscar Dooley; sisters, Louise Wilson, Lula Mae Burke and Eugenia Ellis.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Olin Tumlin, Gadsden; daughter, Barbara Bennett, Birmingham; grandchildren, Terry Tumlin, Gadsden, Don (Maria) Bennett and Dr. Tara (Scott) Ferguson, Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Amber (Stephen) Robinson, Somerville, Amy Tumlin, Knoxville, Tenn., Graham Bennett, Ria Bennett and Barrett Bennett, Birmingham; sisters, Alta Lee Bryant and Carol West, Gadsden; sister-in-law, Sybil Dooley, Fort Payne; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Archer will be remembered for her sweet spirit and her deep love and concern for her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to many people.

Pallbearers will be Terry Tumlin, Don Bennett, Graham Bennett, Barrett Bennett, Scott Ferguson, Stephen Robinson, Mike Bryant, Kenneth Crumpton and Robert Burke.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Todd Cross, the nurses and staff of Northside Healthcare, the Golden Girls Sunday School Class at Immanuel Baptist Church, the Mission Action Group at Macedonia Baptist Church in Coates Bend and all personal friends.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. at Crestwood Chapel prior to the services.
