Three Ada High School seniors died at 12:03 a.m. Sunday in a heap of twisted metal that had been their car, on East High Street Road, 227 feet west of the Hardin county line and a mile north of Rt. 30-S.

Killed were Robert J. Treen, 19, of 302 S. Jackson, Jeffrey Scott Sousley, 18, of 540 N. Gilbert, and Daniel Bruce Archer, 17, of 251 W. Buckeye, Ada, Ohio.

State highway patrolmen said the car, driven by Sousley was westbound on High Street Road, rounding an "S" curve just inside Allen County, when it went out of control, veered left of center, hurtled some 50 feet, then slammed broadside into two large dutch elm trees and exploded by force of impact.

The car was nearly disintegrated, with at least three large sections hurled into fields and fencing on both sides of the road. Bits of metal were scattered over an area of some 300 feet in all direction and the highway was blocked for more than two and a half hours.

The hood of the car was found 175 feet west of the impact point, the motor compartment ripped in two, lying 150 feet left of the road in a field and the passenger section was imbedded in a fence about 130 feet down the highway on the right.

Treen and Sousley died at the scene, while Daniel Archer died a short time later at Memorial Hospital.

Holloway, Lima; paternal grandmother, Mrs. Victoria Kuhldon, Lima, and paternal step-grandfather, Dale Archer, Lima, and his paternal grandfather, Robert Edward Rains and step-grandmother, Helen Irene Heichel Rains, of Auburn Heights, MI.
