He was a 1998 graduate of George Wythe High School in Richmond, VA. He enlisted in the US Army in 2004, and attended light-wheel vehicle mechanic unit training at Fort Lee, VA. Upon completion of advanced individual training, he attended basic Airborne training at Fort Benning, GA, and was subsequently assigned to the 725th Brigade Support Battalion at Fort Richardson, AR. He was next assigned to the 54th Combat Support BN at Fort Bragg. In 2008, he reclassified to the psychological operations branch and graduated from the psychological operations qualification course in July 2009. Upon graduating from the course, he was assigned to Charlie Company, 9th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne) from 2009 to 2012, the 4th Military Information Support Group (Airborne) from 2012 to 2014, and then assigned to Alpha Company, 3rd Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne). His leadership positions included: Schools and Language NCO, 4th Military Information Support Group (Airborne); Tactical MISO Team Leader, Charlie Company, 9th Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne) where he deployed twice in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan; MISO Medium Print Team Leader, Alpha Company, 3rd Military Information Support Battalion (Airborne). He was a graduate of the Warrior Leader Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Combative level I and II, Combat Lifesaver Course, the USASOC Command Language Manager Course and Basic Airborne School. His military awards and decorations include: the Bronze Star Medal (one oak leaf cluster); Army Achievement Medal (two oak leaf clusters); Army Good Conduct Medal (third Award); National Defense Service Medal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal (one campaign star); Global War on Terror Service Medal; NATO Medal; and Parachutist Badge.

He was survived by his wife; three sons; his mother; his father; mother- and father-in-law; a sister; grandparents; a half-brother; two half-sisters; a sister-in-law; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Wytheville, Va. A second visitation was held on January 2, 2015 at Murphy Funeral Home, Arlington, VA, followed by interment that same day.
