Margie Smoak Arant of Bowman, died July 7, 2009 in Orangeburg. She was 70.

Born in Orangeburg a daughter of the late Earl J. Smoak, Sr. and Betty R. Bozard Smoak.

She was a member of Bowman Southern Methodist Church where she was very active in the church ministry and served as church pianist for many years. Mrs. Arant was a member of the Gladys Weathers Missionary Society. She was a Volunteer of the Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Arant was affectionately known as "Gigi" to her grandchildren.

She was the widow of Harold Todd Arant and survivors include her son, Hal Arant and wife Kathy; daughters, Dayle Arant and husband Perry, Beth Turner and husband Tommy; twin sister, Margaret Weathers and husband Steve; brother, Jimmy Smoak and wife Susan; grandchildren, Todd Arant and wife Allison, Tyler Arant, Brent Arant, Liz Turner and Hayne Turner, all of Bowman, Marla Arant, Orangeburg; special cousin, Tommie C. Barton, Hanahan; sister-in-law, Patricia M. Smoak, Orangeburg.

Mrs. Arant was predeceased by two brothers Earle J. Smoak, Jr., and A.J. Smoak.

Interment was in Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.
