Lawrence James Apsey Sr., 68, of Lincoln, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015
at home. He was born October 30, 1946 to Gerald and Nora
(Forsythe) Apsey in Harrisville. He was raised in Lincoln, where he was a lifelong
resident. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Leora Lynn Lee in Lincoln on January 10, 1970. Mr. Apsey worked as a millwright with the Detroit Local No. 1102, and with his father in the plumbing, heating, and electric business, Apsey Sales and Service. Recently, he worked at Lincoln Hardware. He was a
member of the First Baptist Church in Lincoln, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed reading, gardening, and a good conversation.
Mr. Apsey is survived by his wife, Lynn; one son,Lawrence (Melissa Zastrow)
of Linwood, Mich.; two grandchildren, Katelyn Apsey and Kyle Apsey; three stepchildren, Emily Zastrow, Brooklyn Zastrow, and Darren Zastrow; four sisters,
Nancy Timm of Kentucky Connie (Stan) Lee of Mikado,
Cynthia (Tom) Knight of California and Linda (Larry) Somers of Lincoln; three
brothers-in-law Robert (Merry) Lee, Gary (Carol) Lee and Dennis (Vicki) Lee; his
father-in-law, Robert James Lee of Florida; and his former daughter-in-law, Jackie
Apsey of Lincoln; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held on Monday, Sept. 28 at the First Baptist Church in Lincoln.
Dr. Rev. Arie Van Brenk officiated. Memorial donations may be made to First Baptist
Church, Lincoln, the Alpena Regional Medical Center Cancer Center, or to the donor's
choice. Arrangements were handled by Gillies Funeral Home, Lincoln.
