She was born in Oregon to James and Mary Josephine Orchard. Her early years were spent in Yakima Valley in Washington. The family moved to Oregon in the early '20s.
She was married to Charles E. Applegate and upon his death in 1952, moved to Klamath Falls.
Mrs. Applegate is survived, in addition to Mrs. O'Harra, by two other daughters, Josephine Williamson, Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Betty Meiling, Lake Oswego; three sons, Charles H. Belshaw and Virgil D. Belshaw both of Mt. Vernon, Wash., and Russell J. Belshaw, Salem; also 13 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
