James Apostle, a resident of Somers for more than 40 years, died Wednesday. He was 78.
Mr. Apostle was born in the Thompsonville section of Enfield. He studied fine arts at American International College in Springfield and was a member of the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts.
Mr. Apostle worked for 17 years as a lithographer at the former Rainbow Inc. of Enfield. Before that he worked at Rosen's Textile Engraving Co. in Agawam.
As a member of the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts, Mr. Apostle shared his artistry with several museums and art galleries throughout New England.
He leaves his wife, Margaret Kelliher Apostle; two daughters, Leah Klezos of Somers and Lisa Theobald of Enfield; a sister, Nellie LeMay of Enfield; four grandsons; two granddaughters; a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Edmond, died previously.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, followed by services at 11 a.m. in St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Church Street, Enfield. Burial will be in the Somers Center Cemetery.
