Andres S. Apodaca, 80, a resident of Truth or Consequences, passed away Tuesday at Sierra Vista Hospital in Truth or Consequences. He was born April 9, 1914 to Jose and Magdalena (Sanchez) Apodaca in Elephant Butte. He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and a prisoner of war during World War II. He was a tank driver in Northern France and the Rhineland in Central Europe. Mr. Apodaca received the World War II Victory Ribbon, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Service Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He married Sofia Telles on March 14, 1949 in Las Cruces. He retired from Chino Mines in 1976 after 21 years of service. Mr. Apodaca was a parshioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Health Roman Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife Sofia, three sons, Nate Apodaca and his wife, Melva, of Las Vegas, Nev., Andy T.
