Graveside services for J.T. Anthis, 77, of Hearne were held Friday, March 16, 2012, in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale with Steve Telg officiating.
Mr. Anthis died Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at Sherwood Health Care in Bryan.
He was born May 9, 1934, in Rockdale to William Franklin and Florence (Whited) Anthis.
Mr. Anthis attended school in Rockdale.
He married Nancy Jane Hodges on Jan. 22, 1955, in Houston.
Mr. Anthis was district supervisor over the storm sewer for the City of Houston, retiring in 1988 after 25 years. They moved to Hearne where they made their home
Mr. Anthis enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Jim, Ike, Bill and T.D. Anthis; and three sisters, Vera Doss, Mildred Houston and Vivian Brodnax.
Survivors are his wife, a son, a daughter, eight grandchildren and their spouses, 11 great-grandchildren, and two babies on the way; a brother-in-law, and three sisters-in-law.
