Esta R. "Sonny" Annon, 57, of Chillicothe, died 6:05 p.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the Adena Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born December 5, 1953, in Chillicothe, to the late Wilber and Eileen Willett Annon.
Surviving are brothers, Bob (Mary) Walters, James Annon, of Dayton, Chuck Annon, of Michigan and George Annon, of Springfield; twin sister, Ester Annon, of Springfield; sisters, Phoebe (Charles) Donahue, of Waverly, Deborah (Robin) Taylor, Janie Cottrill and Mary (Keith) Bethel, all of Chillicothe; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, including Rosa Stayner, with whom he lived and who cared for him, Montana Estep, Mable Annon and Virginia (Earl) Rozelle, all of Chillicothe and Brenda (Steve) Johnson, of Lockbourne. He was predeceased by his father, Wilber Annon; mother and stepfather, Eileen and Ivan Rice; brothers, Wayne, Bill and Arnold Annon; and sisters, Rosa Hill, Helen Estep and Jessica Grant.
Sonny was well known for his mowing in various neighborhoods and working on mowers and other lawn equipment. He delivered newspapers for years. His customers knew him well and knew he was also on time. Sonny was a big Elvis Presley fan. He was always listening to Elvis's songs. His favorite song was Take My Hand Precious Lord and You'll Never Walk Alone. These songs could be heard throughout his home. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, coloring, writing, listening to gospel music and going to visit Steve and Brenda's to ride their four wheeler, as the free spirit he was.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, September 17, 2011 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Bishop Melvin Maughmer officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at Ware's from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.
