Miss Helene Anhalt to Friedrich Altenberger

This week Tuesday at the St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Father Schmitz united in marriage Mr. Friedrich Altenberger, the son of Friedrich Altenberger Sr. from Town Rhine in Sheboygan County and Miss Helene Anhalt, daughter of Mr. John Anhalt from Town Schleswig. The wedding, with High Mass, took place at 9 o’clock in the morning. A large number of guests attended the wedding celebration at the home of the bride’s parents. The young couple will make their home on the farm of Mr. Altenberger in Town Rhine, which the groom will manage.
Mrs. Helen Altenberger, 86, widow of Fred, formerly of 602 Huron Ave., died Tuesday afternoon at Rocky Knoll Sanatorium and Hospital. She had been a patient there four years. The former Helen Anhalt, she was born in the Town of Rhine, July 1, 1877, a daughter of the late John and Barbara Anhalt. She was married to Mr. Altenberger at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, Sept. 11, 1900.
The couple farmed in the Town of Rhine until moving to Sheboygan 38 years ago. Her husband died in 1948. She was a member of Holy Name Parish and its St. Ann Christian Mothers and Altar Society.
Surviving are two sons, Fred of Sheboygan and Hugo of Tucson, Ariz.; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Pitsch (Margaret) of Sheboygan Falls, Mrs. Esther Brey of Chicago and Mrs. William Koenders (Anita), Mrs. Walter Simonich (Ann) and Mrs. Fred Dottai (Martha), all of Sheboygan; 15 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Mahloch of Manitowoc.
