Lelio (Leo) Angeloni, age 82, of Park Village Assisted Living at Dover, and formerly of East Sparta and New Philadelphia, died Saturday afternoon, April 29, 2006. Born at Waynesburg, Ohio, November 21, 1923, he was one of three children reared by the late John and Zaire Lenciono Angeloni. Following graduation from Waynesburg High School in 1942, Leo enlisted in the United States Army and served during World War II before his honorable discharge February 6, 1946. Leo continued his education earning various degrees in industrial, manufacturing and electrical engineering at Kent State University. On May 10, 1947, he married the former Helen Phillips. The two celebrated forty-seven anniversaries together before her death on October 31, 1994. Leo worked as an engineer for the former I.F. Manufacturing and the former Canton Malleable, but ultimately retired from Blackstone Industries at Jamestown, New York. Following retirement, Leo and Helen returned to East Sparta. Leo was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was also a member of New Philadelphia Lodge #177 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, was a 32 degree Mason, and a member of the Tadmor Temple of Shriners at Canton. Survivors include his son, John and his wife Cheryl Angeloni of New Philadelphia, and a grandson, Nicholas Angeloni, also of New Philadelphia. In addition to his parents and wife, Leo was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Gentry and brother, Pat Angeloni, and his companion, Louise Cinson, who died earlier this year. Friends are invited to call Tuesday evening from 6PM until 8PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where members of the New Philadelphia Lodge #177 F.&A.M. will conduct a lodge of sorrow at 7:45. Father Victor P. Cinson Jr. will lead funeral services Wednesday morning at 11AM in the funeral home's chapel. Burial will follow at East Avenue Cemetery where members of the VFW Post 1445 will render military honors. Following the committal service, a reception will be given in the Geib Family Center, adjacent to the funeral home.
