OBITUARY OF CHRISTIAN H. ANDRICK

Christian H. Andrick was the son of John and Anna Andrick, and was b. in Canton Burn, Switzerland, 24 Jun 1837. He migrated to America at the age of Twelve, coming to Albany, N.Y. He lived at that place for four or five years and then moved to Licking County, OH, and later to Columbus, OH. He came as an immigrant to Kansas in 1878 settling upon what became known as the Andrick homestead in Lincoln Twp., Pottawatomie Co., where he peacefully passed out of this life on 18 Nov 1911 at 3 a.m., at the age of 74 yrs, 4 mo, and 24 days.
He was married in Columbus, OH. to Miss Melissa Walter, 28 Mar 1858. His good wife preceeded him to the better land just 10 years to a day. To them eight children were born, four boys and four girls. Two of the daughters have passed into the life beyond, Cora Alice died in infancy, and Mrs Anna Elizabeth Segrist departed this life eight years ago. The sons who are left to mourn his loss are Charles, living near the Fairview Church, Perry, living near Onaga, Edward, at Wheaton, and Frank, who lives on the old homestead. The daughters are Mrs. Sam Winfough, of Oklahoma and Mrs. Ellsworth Hoover who lives in the county.
He profesed faith in Christ about fifty years ago and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church at Fletcher's Chapel in Franklin county, OH. When he came to Kansas his membership was moved to Bucks Grove, then to Avoca, and when the Fairview church was organized his name was transferred to that church where he lived a faithful member till the Lord called him home. He has served as class leader, Sunday School superintendent, and steward in which places he faithfully performed his duty. He was loyal to the church and worked for her prosperity. He has been in poor health for about four years. Was stricken with paralysis about a year ago. As husband, father, neighbor, friend and Christian, he was ever true. He was devoted to his country, his church, his family and his God. He did not fear death for his faith was firmly fixed in Jesus Christ.
His funeral was conducted from the Bucks Grove Church and the interment was in the cemetery at that location.
