Helen J. Andrews Anderson, 84, of Toddville, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at St Luke's Hospital. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Toddville Free Methodist Church by Pastor H. Burr Bryant. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Center Point. Burial: Dunkard Cemetery, rural Toddville.
Survivors include her husband, Edward; three children, Carl (Kang) Anderson, Judith (Ron) Bruner, and Richard (Julie) Anderson; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are two sisters, Marge Andrews and Catherine (Joe) Dytrt; and two brothers, Mike Andrews and Kenneth (Shirley) Andrews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Marvin, Bruce and Donald.
Helen was born December 9, 1924, the daughter of Wencil and Anna (Erickson) Andrews in Toddville. On November 28, 1947, she married Ed Anderson in Marion. Helen began teaching at 17 years old in one room school houses in Toddville, Swisher and Prairieburg; and taught school in Walker from 1967-1987. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, and fishing as well as teaching her grandkids the essentials of life.
