MOUNT SAVAGE Thomas E. Andrews, 85, of Mount Savage, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the Frostburg Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Jan. 27, 1924 in Mount Savage, he was the son of the late Robert W. Andrews and Elizabeth M. (Rizer) Andrews. Thomas was also preceded in death by one brother, Clarence W. Andrews; and one sister, Gladys Smith.

Mr. Andrews was a retired Sexton with Saint George's Episcopal Church. Thomas was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, the church choir, Chaplin of Kemp Lodge 154 A.F. & A.M., Mt. Savage Volunteer Fire Dept and the Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W., all of Mount Savage.

Surviving are his wife, Anna May (Simpson) Andrews; one daughter, Rebecca Jane Short of Danville, W.Va.; one step-son, Paul E. Werner of Fayetteville, N.C.; one step-daughter, Mary Ann Yutzy of South Point, Ohio; two grandchildren; six step-grandchilden; and three great- step-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Kemp Lodge 154 will hold a memorial service at the funeral home on Sunday at 2 p.m.

A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at Saint George's Episcopal Church on Monday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Elizabeth Webster as celebrant.

Interment will be in the Saint George's Episcopal Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded at graveside by members of Old Rail Post 6025 V.F.W. Honor Guard.

Pallbearers will be members of the Mount Savage Volunteer Fire Company.
