Gordon Reese Andrews
September 21, 1931 - June 29, 2014

Cumberland, MD - Gordon Reese Andrews, 82, of Cumberland, MD, passed away Sunday, June 29, 2014, at his home. Born September 21, 1931, in Cumberland, MD, Mr. Andrews was the son of the late Joseph Harrison Andrews and Myrtle Francis (Hott) Andrews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister: Dorothy June Roy; and a grandson: K.C.
A United States Naval Veteran during the Korean War, Gordon worked at several local businesses as a machinist, the Celanese Fibers Corporation of America, Kelly-Springfield Tire Company, and most recently, CES in Cumberland.
He was a member of Saint Luke's Lutheran Church; the Fort Cumberland Post #13 American Legion; and the National Rifle Association.
Gordon was active in football and track at Fort Hill High School, the Navy, and the Cumberland Cougars.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 63 years: Nelda Jean (DeNeen) Andrews; his sons: Charles Andrews and wife, Carolyn, Cumberland, MD; and Mark Andrews and fiancée, Nancy McCormick, Ridgeley, WV; and his daughters: Kristi Jo Casteel and husband, Kenneth, Finzel, MD; and Frannie DeWitt and husband, Jeremy, Cresaptown, MD. He also leaves behind his brothers: Carroll Andrews and wife, Doris; and John Andrews and wife, Beverly; his grandchildren: Charles Andrews, Jr., Amanda Glass, Sabrina Brennan, William Andrews, Gordon Andrews, Reese Andrews, Garrett Snyder, Mikayla DeWitt, and Chase DeWitt; as well as five great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 P.M., to 9:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at 1:00 P.M., with Pastor David Wright officiating.
Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
