Alfred M. Andresen was born July 17, 1917 in Johnston City to Alfred and Hyjoridis (Jacobson) Andresen. His siblings include June Lecerf and Pearl Zanotti, both of Johnston City.

He married Mary L. DeMattie on May 17, 1958. His children include Marco (spouse, Mary E.) Andresen of Herrin.

Mr. Andresen retired from Allen Industries after 27 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and VFW Post 1565 in Herrin. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater.

Mr. Andresen died at the age of 75 on Thursday, July 9, 1992 in Herrin Hospital. His funeral service was held in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, Rev. Ray Schultz officiating. Johnson-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Memorials were to be made to the St. Mary's Education Foundation.
