This is my G G GRANDFATHER Albrecht C. ANDRESEN.
He was born March 19, 1850, in Bohmstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany to Lorenz and Christine nee (Johannsen) Andresen.
Albrecht, took his own life on Aug. 04, 1932, he was 82 years old. In his daughter Ann'a Journals it had stated that he had been very ill for a long period of time with headaches, high blood pressure, and dizzy spells. Albrecht was a man that had kept his self busy by working with his hands and the family had lived on a farm for years. I can only assume from his daughter Anna's Journal, that he did not enjoy being in bed sick or visiting his doctor, since he was use to working and did not enjoy lounging around the house so he took his own life.
I was told by family members my grandpa Frank Maassen, that Grandpa Albrecht had took his own life about 6 years afer his wife Ida had died.
Son of Lorenz Andresen, and Christine nee Johannsen, from Bohmstedt, Schieswig, Holstein Germany.
In 1870 to 1871 Albrecht, served in the German military in a war against France. Afterward he received a honorable discharge and sailed for America to Scott County, Iowa.
In 1871 or 1872 Albrecht, came to America, to Durant, Scott County, Iowa and On Feb. 25, 1875, and in Durant he Married Ida Christine Voss.
Albrecht and Ida Andresen, had 3 girls:
1) Anna who lived at home and never married.
2) Emma who married William H. Maassen, and lived in Walnut IA and Avoca IA.
3) Margaret (Gerti), who married Andrew Jacobsen, of Hancock IA
Albrecht had a brother Thomas Andresen, who at times lived with his brother.
