Mrs. Claire Lillian Mattice, 81, of East Hatfield Street, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, at her home surrounded by her daughters.

Claire was born June 15, 1930 in Cornwall, Ontario the daughter of the late Ernest and Mary St. Louis Andre'. She attended and graduated from schools in Maxville, Ontario. She first married Kenneth Charles Gregor, who predeceased her on February 17, 1975. In 1983, she married Ernest G. Mattice. He predeceased her on October 23, 1999.

Claire worked for many years at Bell Canada in Cornwall. She later went to work at Massena Central Schools where she was the cafeteria manager until her retirement. She was a member of the Cafeteria Union at the school. Claire was a very talented artist and had a great passion for painting. Another one of Claire's great passions was sewing and she also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and doing crafts. She was known as a great cook and loved bird watching.

She is survived by her children, Thessaira Gregor of Oriskany; Henry Gregor of Orlando, Florida; Cynthia Sojda also of Oriskany; Paul and Valerie Gregor, Retired Air Force, of Colorado Springs; and twins, Glenn and Gary Gregor, both of Syracuse; 19 grandchildren including, Charles Dann of Watertown.
She was predeceased by a son, Kevin in 1985 and two sisters.

A celebration of her life will be held Tuesday 1:30 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, with an hour of calling beginning at 12:30 p.m.. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwood.

Memorial Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
