Estella A. Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on May 19, 2009 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Stella was born October 22, 1922 in Holden, Utah, the daughter of Cloyde and Gertrude Wood Anderton.

She grew up in Richfield, Utah and graduated from Richfield High.

She married James Raymond Smith in Preston, Idaho on November 7, 1942; the marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on November 22, 1942. Following World War II Ray and Stella made their home in Murray. They are the parents of Marie Smith, Murray; Anne (Roger) Berky Mesa, Arizona; David R. (Penny), Sandy; Paul J. (Yvonne) Magna; Clyde W, (Linda) Murray; Lee K. (Eally) Holladay; and Alan L. (Tina) Aurora, Colorado.

She was active in the Murray Civic Guild, the PTA, and served on the Murray Library Board. Her favorite church calling in the LDS Church was coordinator/choirster of the Junior Sunday School, where she served for 28 years.

She is survived by her husband, seven children, 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, three brothers, and two sisters. Preceded in death by her parents and one grandchild.

Her strong values and work ethic shaped the lives of her large family who in turn helped take care of her at the time of her passing.

The Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 in the Heritage Ward Chapel, 67 West Clay Park Drive (6280 South) Murray, Utah. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Jenkins Soffe Mortuary, 4760 South State Street, Murray, Utah, and one hour prior to the services at the Chapel.
Burial at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 South Highland Drive (1495 East), East Millcreek, UT.
