Early in life moved to Kentucky and came from Bracken county, Ky., to Monroe City in 1857. He engaged in farming and worked at his trade, plasterer. He was landlord of the first hotel in this city and has seen Monroe City grow from its infancy.
For several years he has been afflicted and has been quite sick for several weeks. He and his wife united with the Christian church about nine years ago. His wife survives him and with their ten children, thirty-four grand children, eleven great grand children and many friends mourn his death.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Hatch at the residence Monday morning and all that was mortal of one of Monroe City's oldest citizens was laid to rest. The Democrat extends its sympathy to the bereaved family.
