OLD RESIDENTS OF STORY COUNTY WERE CALLED BY DEATH

Funeral services have been held the past week for three old residents of Story county who are know to many in this community. A.B. Anderson who has lived here for 62 years, died at his home in Roland Tuesday evening last week. Mrs. Kari Hauge of Belmond, a former resident of the south part of the county, died Friday morning while visiting at the O.O. Lein home. Henry Osmundson of Minneapolis, formerly of Slater, died in Minneapolis Wednesday.

Andrew B. Anderson was born July 5, 1859, at Saude, Norway, and died in Roland April 5, 1932, at the age of 72 years and 9 months. He came to American in 1870 and settled with his parents near Roland.

When he was grown he started farming in the community nine mile southeast of Roland and lived there until 12 years ago when he moved to the new residence he built on Green street in Roland.

He was united in marriage to Julia Thompson on March 14, 1884. Ten children were born to this union, one of whom, Allie, is dead. The children living are Ove of Forest City, Mrs. Richard Anderson of Nevada, Mrs. Mandus Forland of Manly, Oscar of Nevada, Mrs. Carl Johnson of Thompson, Mrs. Wesley Springer of McCallsburg, Amos and Clarence of Nevada, and Ervin of Roland. Mrs. Anderson died May 1, 1908.

He was married again to Caroline Orton on June 28, 1910, who survives him. He also leaves Bertha Brekke, whom Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have raised from infancy as their own.

He is also survived by five brothers, O.B., O.O., and M.O. Anderson of Roland, J.O. Anderson of Story City, and J.T. Anderson of Nevada, four sisters, Mrs. O.M. Rierson of Roland, Mrs. John Egenes of Renwick, and Ellen and Nellie Anderson of Minneapolis, and 27 grandchildren.

Mr. Anderson had been in ill health for a long time and death was not unexpected.

The funeral was held Friday afternoon at the Anderson home and at Bergen church, Rev. M.O. Sumstad officiating, and interment was made in the Roland cemetery. Pall bearers were nephews of the deceased, Rufus Thompson, Herman Stole, Edward Nereim, Orville Anderson, Otis Anderson and Sherman Anderson.

Those from a distance in attendance at the funeral, besides the children and their families, were Henry Stoll and son Herman and daughter Rose of Forest City, Mr. and Mrs. John Egenes of Renwick, Mr. and Mrs. M.B. Ward and son of Colo, Thomas Orton of Cherokee, and Julia Orton of Wakonda, S.D."
