Anderson, Beatrice Elizabeth

Beatrice Elizabeth Anderson was born August 7, 1919, and passed away with her loving family by her side on March 30, 2013. She was 93 years old.

Beatrice "Bea" was one of 15 children born to Andrew and Antoinette (Hyska) Cegelski. Bea's twin sister, Bernice, died in infancy. The close-knit Polish family grew up in a large home on Chicago Street, a few blocks from St. Mary of the Angels Church. Bea married the love of her life, Paul John Anderson, on September 1, 1947. He preceded her in death on March 3, 1987.

Prior to her marriage to Paul, Bea was employed in the lab for Kraft Foods in Green Bay. Over the years Bea held several part-time jobs, retiring from the Green Bay YWCA. Bea was a full time mother, raising her family and devoting her time and talents to her church and the children's school. Bea was a member of the St. Elizabeth Altar Society and one of the oldest members of St. Mary of the Angels Parish.

Bea is survived by her five children: Jane (John) Neumann, Green Bay; Susan (Bruce) Krueger, Verona; Marcia (Bill-deceased) Grunwald, Pulaski; Julie Anderson and Thomas Anderson, both Green Bay. Bea also has nine grandchildren: Sara, Nick and Adam Neumann, Randall Krueger, Erik Anderson, Matthew and Casey Grunwald, Aaron and Ryan Bertaud, and two great-grandchildren, Henry and Charlotte Neumann. She is further survived by her sisters: Delphine "Dell" Charles, Phyllis "Daisy" Jacobs, Loretta "Katie" Boschert, all Green Bay; and brothers Robert, Florida and James Cegelski, California; sisters-in-law, Joyce Cegelski, Donna Cegelski, and Bette Cegelski; plus numerous much-loved nieces, nephews, cousins, distant relatives, dear friends, acquaintances and dedicated caregivers.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Paul, sisters: Bernice, Eleanor (Butch) Okrey, Rita (Clayton) Toonen, Valencia Cegelski, and brothers, Edwin, Cyril, Arnold, Rodney, and Rudolph Cegelski, in addition to many dearly departed in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Bea lived a good and full life to the very end. She will be remembered as a kind, gentle, warm and loving person who made friends easily. Bea touched many lives in a sweet way, endearing them as her "Honey Girl" or "Honey Boy." It came straight from her heart. She enjoyed playing Bridge and other card games, and she played well into her 90s. She was an avid sports fan and always kept track of her favorite teams, the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and Notre Dame.

Bea will always be famous for her Chicken Booyah and Pea Soup. We will all miss her special "Western Union calling" singing telegrams to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. Bea was a source of kindness, love and forgiveness to her family. Although she endured some physical hardships later in life, Bea remained strong due to her Catholic faith, and she prayed the rosary every day.

Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason Street on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. Parish wake service, 7 p.m. Friday. Visitation will continue on Saturday at St. Mary of the Angels Church, 645 S. Irwin Ave., after 9:30 a.m., until the time of Mass. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Fr. Patrick Gawrylewski and Fr. Tom Wojciechowski, OFM, officiating. Burial in the Allouez Catholic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the Anderson family at www.prokowall.com. A memorial fund has been estalished in her name.

Beatrice's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the caregivers, including the staff at Heartland Hospice and especially Dr. John Rank. Their care and compassion will always be remembered.

"Blessed is the mother who follows the Lord, so her children can learn and can grow…the unselfish mother who holds on with love, yet knows when it's time to let go. Blessed is the mother whose faith keeps her going through trials, trauma, and cares, who handles the easy with wisdom and love and the not-quite-so-easy with prayers. Blessed is the mother who meets all your needs from the very first day of your birth. Blessed is the mother who shares so much love, for she's God's special angel on earth."
