Death: Aug. 3, 2003

Ralph Glen Anderson, age 86, died August 3, 2003 of natural causes.

He was born October 27, 1916 in Logan, Utah, son of Andrew Wesley Anderson and Mary Standley. Ralph was married to Mabel Louise Staples (of Coalville, Utah) on August 16, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Ralph graduated from the AC (Utah State University) with a degree in music education and promptly moved to Idaho to teach school. He was drafted into the Navy during World War II and upon being honorably discharged returned with Mabel and two sons to Idaho to resume his music teaching career. He later obtained his Masters degree in music education from the University of Idaho, Moscow. Subsequently he moved his family to Oregon to teach and concluded his teaching career in Roseburg, Oregon. Upon leaving teaching he became skilled as a music instrument repairman. Music had always been a great source of enjoyment and reward to Ralph.

He served diligently to the end in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in many callings including Bishop, High Councilor, Patriarch, Temple Worker and Home Teacher. He was a devoted husband and father and was a great example of honesty, integrity and endurance to all who knew him. It would be appropriate to say Ralph was a pioneer and missionary for the church wherever he lived, but especially in the Roseburg area where he lived for over 30 years.

He is survived by his loving wife Mabel (after 64 years of happy marriage), a brother Clyde Anderson, and a sister Verla Maynes, both of the Salt Lake City area. Also survived by three sons, Ralph Clair, Chicago, Lynn John, Denver, and Kay LeGrand, Provo; two daughters, Sylvia Jensen, Los Angeles, and Jeannine Jorgensen, Washington D. C.; 23 grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 9, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grandview 6th Ward Chapel, 1850 West 1600 North, Provo. Friends may call Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Berg Mortuary of Provo, 185 E. Center Street, as well as Saturday morning at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment, Coalville City Cemetery, Coalville, Utah.
