Florine A. Akers, 89, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 10, 2010. She was born December 11, 1920 to Fred and Mary Anderson. She is survived by her husband and the love of her life of 70 years, William Clarence "W.C." Akers and her two children, Reed Akers (Becky) and Bonnie Kyrisch (Norbert). Florine is also survived by her four grandchildren, May Ross, Frank Reek Akers (Jackie), Bill Kyrisch (Lillian), and Tracy Hinojosa, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews. Florine retired from Kelly AFB and traveled with W.C. the entire US & Canada in their R.V. along with their beloved dog Benji. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandson, Frank, play little league, high school and college baseball and later on watch him coach high school baseball. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Fred, her sister Corine and grandson Michael Shawn Bryan. Those of us left behind will miss the joy she brought to our lives and we look forward to seeing her again in Heaven.
Services
Visitation will be held at Mission Park South, Monday, April 12, 2010, at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will take place at Mission Park South on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 11:00 with burial at Rutledge Cemetery in Poteet, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Animal Defense League or the charity of your choice.
